‘Contrast’ by Marielle R. Medina

Contrast

By: Marielle R. Medina, 4th Place Division 2

They were born from the same parents
They have the same
Nose
Toes
Freckle on their knees
But one is light and the other is dark
The light is seen as a Goddess, a beautiful sunrise
But the other, the darkness, is seen as hostile, a terrible surprise.
They are both
stubborn
lovely
Unfailingly kind
But others want to think they’re different
To them, they’re
Opposites
Contrasts
The flip side of a coin
Other than their skin colors,
what really is the difference
between my brother and I?
